Edda Kino in Haugesund, Norway, is the largest cinema complex in the region. It features seven state‑of‑the‑art auditoriums and a total seating capacity of approximately 896 patrons. Established in 1978 and expanded over the decades, Edda Kino serves as the main venue for the annual Norwegian Film Festival and offers a full slate of daily screenings, private events, and green‑certified conference facilities.

Project Details

Recliner Model Installed

We furnished three of Edda Kino’s auditoriums with our Neon series, which includes Neon Recliners, Gliders, and Daybeds. Each is crafted for maximum comfort and durability, with personalization based on screen decor and client requirements.

Number of Screens

The installation covered 3 screens, which aligned with the theatre’s phased renovation plan to upgrade premium seating in select halls.

Additional Requirements

To meet Edda Kino’s exacting specifications, Atom Seating® implemented extensive customizations:

Variable Seat Widths: Optimized to balance comfort with minimal impact on overall capacity.

Adjustable Recline Depths: Tailored for each seat type (recliner, glider, daybed)

Anti‑Entrapment Sensors: A centralised assembly of sensors to ensure patron safety by preventing accidental pinching during operation.

Auto‑Return Sensors: Automatically resetting seats to the upright position between showings. Again, with a centralised control system.

Additional Bespoke Modifications: Seamless integration with existing flooring, power outlets for mobile/PC charging, and embroidered seat numbering.

Maintain Seat Count: Despite introducing wider, more luxurious recliners, custom dimensions preserved nearly the same number of seats per auditorium.

Diversify Seating Options: Patrons can now choose from recliners, gliders, or daybeds. This broadens the appeal across families, couples, and solo visitors.

Elevate Safety & Efficiency: Integrated sensors and auto‑return functions reduce manual labor for staff and enhance the guest experience by assuring every seat is ready for the next screening.
